Happy Birthday, Mom!
By Ashley

Happy Birthday to my beautiful Mom!

If I had to choose one word to describe my mom, it would be BEAUTIFUL. Not only is she beautiful on the inside and outside, but she also has this magical knack for making the world around her more beautiful. This is not surprising, considering she is a natural-born decorator, artist, and gardener. She has more art and gardening skills in her little pinky than I have in my entire being. I can kill a plastic house plant and probably have wasted enough paint to fill the Mississippi. However, her passion is contagious, and I love living in these worlds when I am able to and have a lot of fun trying her new things! (God bless all the plants I have killed, and forgive me for the paint that has gone to waste!)

She has an adorable little she-shed where a lot of this beautiful magic occurs. Pictures below. (Bet you can’t guess that her favorite color is coral. 😀)

Her latest art passion is pour painting. This is really cool, and if you are so inclined, you should give it a try! Here are some of her paintings.

Pretty amazing, huh? I keep telling her she needs to sell them. If you see one you are interested in, let me know! Maybe I can convince her to sell!

She calls the space around her she-shed the second-chance garden. This is where she actually brings dying and, in some cases, dead plants back to life! 🤯 She literally gives them a second chance. So cool and beautiful, right?

Suffice it to say, if I lived closer, her garden would be much bigger!

When not gardening or painting, she loves traveling with my Dad. They have been fortunate enough to travel extensively. Places she would love to go back to are Greece and Italy. Switzerland (a place she has not gone to) is at the top of her list to visit next. Feel free to take me with you!

Other things my mom loves? Eating Italian food, reading a good book, taking a nap under a soft blanket, feeling her toes in the sand, watching the ocean, picking up shells, and taking care of her fur babies, Katniss and Primrose.

Most of all, my mom loves spending time with her children and grandchildren. She truly loves. To her, love is a feeling that is stronger than any other. A perfect day would be having all her children and grandchildren at her house, sitting on the back porch, rocking in the rocking chairs, talking, laughing, and loving.

My birthday wish for my Mom is for her not to worry so much and to know that she is loved just as much as she loves.

I love you, Mom!
